Our brains are constantly processing and organising the sensory experiences surrounding us. From the smells of food to the background noises we can block out to continue with our day. Sensory processing is part of our day to day, but what happens for those who have difficulty processing the sensory experiences around them? Difficulties in sensory processing is one of the key characteristics of Autism and at times this can lead to distressing behaviour, difficulty in attention, challenges in self-regulation and much more.
